Kagemitsu is the first clan head of the Kumou Family, who lives and runs the Cloud Shrine. The Cloud Shrine is the Noro Orochi's - the Cursed Serpent's - shrine, and the duty of the Kumou family is to protect the shikigami spirit summoned by the Abe onmyouji exorcist family, and to be her shield, to make sure she is not harmed or sealed before her duty to seal the Orochi is over.

Kagemitsu lives at the shrine with said shikigami - Botan - the governer and guardian of Oumi - Sasaki Kyotsuna - and the spirit raccoon Poko the tanuki, and they're a close little family. Until the Orochi took over Sasaki, that is. Then everything went to hell. Sasaki died, Botan disappeared, and only Kagemitsu and Poko were left. Then there was Hirari, who moved in all on his own, naming himself as Botan's husband.

So with two humans and one animal left to defeat the large amount of people following the Orochi, Kagemitsu is going to become the ancestor of many other Kumou members.
